In late 2019, the Road Shower brand and all of its inventory and intellectual property. Apparently, plan to continue selling roof-mount shower systems, and all three versions are now available online with prices and all the details.
For now, it looks like Road Shower hasn’t changed much since Yakima took over sales. The welded aluminum travel shower is a slim, roof-mounted tank that comes in three sizes: 4, 7, and 10 gallons.
The delivery set includes a flexible hose with a nozzle and a brass water fitting. Small and medium tanks include a 55-inch hose, and large tanks are up to 81 inches long. Thermometer sticker strips allow you to find out the temperature of water heated by the sun.
For more functionality, you can use the auxiliary outlet to plug in another diverter elbow ($20) and then plug in a FlexHead shower ($50 for 19 inches, $60 for 30 inches). The FlexHead Shower makes it easy for you to stand under your head to wash yourself off after a ride, without having to spray yourself (or others) with a hose.
To achieve pressurized spraying, the tank has a built-in Schrader valve that can be pressurized using a manual or electric pump. There is also a built-in relief valve so the pressure cannot exceed 65 psi. There is a fill cap next to the pressure valve that you can simply open and fill, or you can use the included garden hose adapter to fill the tank and pressurize it at the same time.
Tank and hardware weights are 19.5, 25.5, and 37 pounds for the small, medium, and large sizes, respectively. But if you fill the tank with water, the total weights are 53 lbs, 84 lbs and 120 lbs. This is important to remember regarding the overall capacity of the roof rack and the weight distribution of the equipment on the roof.
